Le Study Buddies

Welcome to LeChess’s newest avenue for YOUR chess improvement: STUDY BUDDIES!

Ask EVERY titled player you know what one of the best ways to study chess is: 9/10 will tell you that studying with a partner boosts productivity and will improve your game!

With Study Buddies, you will be paired up with a player of similar strength to your own. You then meet together and study whichever area of chess you are interested in improving on! Some suggestions for study are:

Opening training: Discuss opening ideas and strategies, sharing known theory and working on new ideas! Your Study Buddy will make an excellent opponent to practice your opening lines on! 

Endgame training: Sound endgame knowledge is what distinguishes a good player from a master! Go over key endings with your Study Buddy and play key endgame positions out with your partner!

Analyse GM games: Why did Kasparov play that move against Karpov? Did Shirov overlook a tactic in one of his sacrifices? Did Carlsen really play the best strategy against that isolated Queens pawn? Find out the answers by going over GM games with your Study Buddy, discussing your ideas on different strategies etc!

Do you have problems with opposite-side castling pawn storms? Well, grab your Study Buddy, set up such a position and play it out!

Your Study Buddy will make an excellent sparring partner! Play games with them and do post-mortem analysis!! Was that Queen sac sound?
